Plain Toe Socks, a morning at the Mashiko pottery studio
Wednesday morning in a pottery studio in Mashiko. The wheel hums, and Kenji presses the right foot pedal. Each toe feels the vibration of the motor, and you forget about the sock. At the bottom of the rolled-up jeans, three clean stripes peek out. Clay splashes everywhere—on the hands, on the apron, on the ankle. Between his fingers, the bowl rises, straight and thick. On the shelf, twenty bowls await firing. A radio plays an old enka record. Outside, a cat crosses the courtyard unhurriedly. Kenji doesn't see it, too busy, his five toes at ease.
From yoga to the city, occasions to wear your five toes
Are five-toe socks uncomfortable under closed-toe shoes? It takes a day or two to get used to them, and then each toe finds its place. Then, the toes no longer press against each other, and you grow to love them. These toe socks go from the yoga mat to this week's sneakers, and are also worn at home. The stripes on the leg peek out slightly from the sneaker, a little sporty nod. Wash at 30 degrees, inside out, air dry. Three pairs in different shades, and busy mornings become easier.

What is Tenko?
Tenko is a French boutique specializing in all things Japanese, founded in Brittany and now based in Paris. You will find Japanese clothing (kimonos, kimono jackets, haoris, sukujans, jinbei), Japanese decor (lanterns, posters, noren, maneki-neko), Japanese tableware, and Japanese jewelry. Our small team selects each product for both enthusiasts and the curious.
What is the difference between a kimono, a yukata, and a kimono jacket?
The kimono is the traditional Japanese garment, long and worn with an obi belt. The yukata is its lightweight cotton version, worn in summer and at festivals. The kimono jacket (or haori) is a short, modern version that is easy to wear every day with jeans or a dress. To learn more: what is the difference between a kimono and a yukata?
How do I choose the right size?
The size guides on our product pages are already converted into European sizes: simply choose your usual size using the chart. Since our clothing is made in Asian sizes, the label on the garment you receive will show an Asian size, which is often 1 to 2 sizes larger: this is normal, and the garment will correspond to the European size you ordered. See our size guide.
What are the delivery times?
Your order is prepared within 2 to 5 business days and then shipped within 6 to 15 business days depending on your location, making it 8 to 20 business days in total. Some items are shipped from our logistics partners in Asia, which explains these timeframes. You can find all the details on our delivery page.
How much does delivery cost?
Standard delivery costs €3.90 and is free for purchases of €49 or more. Insured delivery (loss, theft, damage) costs €7.90, or €4.90 for purchases of €49 or more.
Do you deliver outside of France?
Yes, we deliver to mainland France, the French overseas departments and territories, Europe, and worldwide. Depending on the delivery country, customs formalities may apply.
How can I track my order?
A tracking number is sent to you by email as soon as your package has been shipped. It becomes active within 2 to 5 business days. Remember to check your spam folder. You can also track your order here.
Can I return an item?
Yes, you have 14 days after receipt to request a return by first writing to us at contact@tenko.fr. The item must be unused and in its original condition. Return shipping costs are your responsibility unless the product is defective or the error was ours. The refund is issued within 14 business days after receipt of the package. See our returns & exchanges page.
What Japanese gift idea should I choose?
For a Japanese gift that will be appreciated: a furoshiki, a lucky maneki-neko, a bento box, a teapot, a set of chopsticks, a piece of jewelry, or a kimono jacket. Our Japanese accessories and decor are suitable for all budgets.
