Retro Floral Japanese Socks, a find at the Tō-ji flea market in Kyoto

The 21st of the month, at the Tō-ji temple flea market in Kyoto. Among stalls of old kimonos and chipped bowls, Sana stops before a box of herbarium books. The stalls smell of paper and dust. She crouches down, turns the yellowed pages, and her socks peek out from her rolled-up trousers. On the leg, the same little flowers as in the plates in the book. The stallholder smiles, compares, says nothing. A scent of incense wafts by, a truck honks further away. Sana pays for the book, tucks it under her arm, and walks away with a slight drag in her step, happy.

Jeans, a long skirt or a plain outfit: how to wear a floral pattern without overdoing it

Such a busy pattern can make you hesitate, for fear of overdoing it. The secret lies in one sentence: one pattern per outfit. With jeans, a long skirt or plain trousers, these floral tabi socks add a subtle touch of the countryside. They peek out from rolled-up jeans, just enough. They can be worn with ballet flats, flat sandals or low-top sneakers. To preserve the pattern, wash them at 30 degrees, inside out, and dry them flat. Floral socks also pair well with a wool jacket. The choice is often a matter of the heart.

    What is Tenko?

Tenko is a French boutique specializing in all things Japanese, founded in Brittany and now based in Paris. You will find Japanese clothing (kimonos, kimono jackets, haoris, sukujans, jinbei), Japanese decor (lanterns, posters, noren, maneki-neko), Japanese tableware, and Japanese jewelry. Our small team selects each product for both enthusiasts and the curious.

What is the difference between a kimono, a yukata, and a kimono jacket?

The kimono is the traditional Japanese garment, long and worn with an obi belt. The yukata is its lightweight cotton version, worn in summer and at festivals. The kimono jacket (or haori) is a short, modern version that is easy to wear every day with jeans or a dress. To learn more: what is the difference between a kimono and a yukata?

How do I choose the right size?

The size guides on our product pages are already converted into European sizes: simply choose your usual size using the chart. Since our clothing is made in Asian sizes, the label on the garment you receive will show an Asian size, which is often 1 to 2 sizes larger: this is normal, and the garment will correspond to the European size you ordered. See our size guide.

    What are the delivery times?

Your order is prepared within 2 to 5 business days and then shipped within 6 to 15 business days depending on your location, making it 8 to 20 business days in total. Some items are shipped from our logistics partners in Asia, which explains these timeframes. You can find all the details on our delivery page.

    How much does delivery cost?

Standard delivery costs €3.90 and is free for purchases of €49 or more. Insured delivery (loss, theft, damage) costs €7.90, or €4.90 for purchases of €49 or more.

Do you deliver outside of France?

Yes, we deliver to mainland France, the French overseas departments and territories, Europe, and worldwide. Depending on the delivery country, customs formalities may apply.

How can I track my order?

A tracking number is sent to you by email as soon as your package has been shipped. It becomes active within 2 to 5 business days. Remember to check your spam folder. You can also track your order here.

    Can I return an item?

Yes, you have 14 days after receipt to request a return by first writing to us at contact@tenko.fr. The item must be unused and in its original condition. Return shipping costs are your responsibility unless the product is defective or the error was ours. The refund is issued within 14 business days after receipt of the package. See our returns & exchanges page.

What Japanese gift idea should I choose?

For a Japanese gift that will be appreciated: a furoshiki, a lucky maneki-neko, a bento box, a teapot, a set of chopsticks, a piece of jewelry, or a kimono jacket. Our Japanese accessories and decor are suitable for all budgets.
